Dental Office Team Members Visit Morton Arboretum for Fun, Improv and Team Building
You might think that we’re either in the office thinking about our patients or out of the office thinking about other things. But the truth is, we are all so connected and committed to our patients that we make time out of the office to think about you too!
Once a year, we take the whole team — including the full staff of both of our dental offices in Palos Heights and Romeoville — for offsite team building to check in with our mission, goals, and progress. And of course, we check in with each other and have a little fun while we’re at it because that’s what family does.
Thinking of You at the Morton Arboretum
The Morton Arboretum is a beautiful local venue in nearby Lisle, Illinois. With 1,700 acres and more than 200,000 categorized plants, the Morton Arboretum is an outdoor museum, herbarium, and tree research program that invites recreation like hiking and biking, a children’s garden, a giant maze, and an extensive nature-oriented education program.
It was the perfect venue on the perfect sunny day for our 2021 team retreat. We had a great day that was part team-building and part just a relaxing day to enjoy each other and the nature around us. It was great to spend the day with the entire group from both offices all at one time.
We used the time to get to know each other, reflect on what is going well, and what things we want to improve on. We reviewed our mission statement and all had a chance to share our proudest moments at the office. We reviewed our goals from last year’s team retreat to see how many we accomplished. There was a lot to be proud of, and we also always see more ways to help our patients and each other!
Team Building Activities to Create and Inspire
Our activities included breaking off into departments (hygienists, assistants, front staff) and having a photo competition for the most creative selfie. We also spent some time journaling about how to make our work the most positive experience possible and spent some time simply walking around and enjoying nature.
You might remember from Dr. Nina Arora’s Q&A that she is a longtime student and performer of improv! Dr. Arora led the day’s activities and brought in her improv teacher to lead the group through some improv games, which proved to be hilarious.
